The Appalachian Mountains are home to things that are older than the towns, the trees, and perhaphs older than anything. The locals know the rules, they may share them with you, but they wont explain them. Most have learned the hard way.
1. Never venture into the woods alone at night.
2. If you hear your name being called, no you didn`t.
3. Never walk off the unmarked trail.
4. Do not whilstle, or sing here.
5.Never focus on a tree, nor carve your initials onto one.
If you find yourself on these trails, and something strange occurs, do not run. Walk away and get somewhere safe. Your car, your tent, or your home. And remember, if you hear three knocks, no matter where you are, do not answer.
Some things follow you home.
